Well this is very new for me, but I am stepping out of my comfort zone to try blogging. It seems like my time to communicate with you is so limited. I am hoping this opens the door for more in-depth discussions, not only between myself and you, but between grade levels as well.
My topic for this initial discussion is the DRA2. I recently had the opportunity to sit with you and pull some data from last year’s end of school year results during JEPD. For the data consult, I looked at this data to see if I could identify trends to share with you. I have completed this analysis and would like your feedback. You are the experts in your classrooms that can look at these trends, reflect back over the teaching practices from last year, identify needs you have in order to target these specific areas. Using the following link, please look over the specific skills identified as target areas for this school year: DRA2- Target-Areas-per-Grade-Level
As you examine this document and step out of your comfort zone (if it’s not your comfy zone) with me to have this discussion, consider the following questions:
What are your initial thoughts regarding this document and skills identified?
Considering the skills tested on the DRA2, what worked well in our teaching last year?
What areas of the DRA2 would you like to see strengthened this year?
Any surprises?
In reflecting back over last year’s students and classroom teaching practices, do you have any”aha moments” you’d like to share with group?
How can we use this data to specifically target skills in order to improve student performance?
I am anxious for your feedback! Please feel free to share and respond to others’ thinking as we start this new journey!
